Choi Tutor Wrong Answer Notes Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 29, 2026

Choi Tutor Wrong Answer Notes (the "App") is a wrong answer note, memo, and schedule app made by Choidev (choidev, the "Developer"). This policy explains what information the App handles, where it is kept, and when it is sent off your device.

Summary

  • The Developer does not run a server, so we cannot receive or view the problems, memos, photos, or recordings you enter.
  • All data is encrypted and stored on your device. Only files encrypted on your device are uploaded to Google Drive backups.
  • The App shows Google AdMob ads, and Google collects information such as the advertising ID for those ads.

1. Information kept on your device

  • Problems, photos, handwritten notes, memos, recordings, schedules, reminders, and locations: stored only on your device and encrypted with a key in the Android Keystore.
  • Email address of the connected Google account: stored on your device. It is used only to show which account is connected on the settings screen.
  • Fingerprint and face data: the App does not receive it. The Android system performs the check, and the App only receives whether it succeeded.

2. Information that leaves your device

Information leaves your device only when you use the features below.

Google Drive backup (optional)

  • When you turn on backup, the App first encrypts the backup file on your device with a password you choose, then uploads it to a hidden folder for the App in your Google Drive.
  • The backup password is never sent off your device, so neither the Developer nor Google can read the backup contents.

Ads (Google AdMob)

  • Google shows and measures ads and collects device identifiers such as the advertising ID and app set ID, your IP address (used for rough location estimates), usage records such as app launches, taps, and video views, and performance data for the app and ad SDKs to prevent misuse. Data is encrypted when sent.
  • Google's processing practices can be found in how Google partner sites and apps use data
  • You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. In regions where the law requires consent, you will be asked for consent on first launch.

Document Scanner (Google ML Kit)

  • Taking a photo of a problem and cropping it are all handled on your device.
  • To diagnose features and analyze usage, Google collects device information (manufacturer, model, OS version), app name and version, per-installation identifiers, performance metrics, and error codes. It states that the data is encrypted in transit and not shared with third parties.

Maps and Places

  • When you choose a place, map tiles are fetched from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org). Your device's IP address and the map area you are viewing are sent to that server.
  • Place search and address lookup use Android's location search feature. Your search terms and the coordinates of the point you select may be sent to the location search service provider on your device (usually Google).
  • Your current location is used only to move the map to that spot when you tap 'My location'. It is not recorded or sent to the developer.

Link Preview

  • When you add a link to a note, the app connects directly to that website to fetch its title and main image. Your device's IP address is sent to that site. You can turn this off in settings.

Sharing, exporting, printing

  • Sent only to the apps, storage locations, and printers you choose.

3. Google User Data (Google API)

The app may ask you to connect a Google account for backup. The only permission it requests is https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata.

  • With this permission, the app accesses only a hidden app-specific folder (appDataFolder) in your Drive. It cannot read or change other files and folders you keep in Drive.
  • The app writes only data that has already been encrypted on your device to that folder.
  • Information received through the Google API travels only between your device and your Google Drive. It is not transferred, sold, or shared with the developer or any other third party. It is not used for advertising, and no one reads it.
  • How the app uses information received from Google APIs and transfers it to other apps follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

4. App Permissions

  • Microphone: Records voice memos. Recording continues when the screen is off, with a notification shown during recording. Recordings are encrypted and stored on your device.
  • Location: Used only when you tap 'My location' to move the map to your current position.
  • Notifications, exact alarms, and rescheduling after device restart: Review reminders, reminders, and schedule alerts.
  • Biometric authentication: App lock and opening locked notes.
  • Internet: Ads, Drive backup, maps, and link previews.
  • The app does not use camera permission directly. The document scanner works through the camera permission of Google Play services.

5. Retention and Deletion

  • App data stays on your device until you delete it, and it is erased when you uninstall the app.
  • You can delete Drive backups from the app's backup list, or on Google Drive's web version via Settings > Manage apps > Choi Teacher Wrong Answer Notes > "Delete hidden app data."
  • You can revoke the app's access at any time under Google Account > Security > Third-party apps and services.
  • The developer does not hold any data, so even if you contact the developer, they cannot view, recover, or delete it on your behalf.

6. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 years old.

7. Changes to This Policy
